Inspiration: Where do you look?

Right now my brain feels like its about to explode with the amount of ideas and projects I would like to do.  Maybe I will be lucky enough to win the lotto one day so I can just "be"  to do these projects... or maybe my boyfriend is sitting on the winning numbers RIGHT NOW!  I would love to just be inspired, to inspire and create!

What inspires you?

For me, lately and the past few months its been an array of things.  Being exposed to different types of music...music I have never heard before and music I have been reintroduced to.  Its been the many new faces I have met and listening to their perspective...my boyfriend, the beach...riding a bike through the city and seeing it in a totally different way.  Its been going to new restaurants with amazing food, field trips through out the city...reading blogs, watching TED, power meetings with my friend Lori, and my sister who is excited to be making some big changes!

Its also been my friends successes...its inspiring to see the people I hold dear work so hard and receive reward or attain what they have been working hard to achieve.

Here are a few blogs and websites that were passed on to me today by friends and colleagues on Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogger and Twitter. (all places you can find me as well!)

Hope this helps you to stay inspired and feel good about what you are working towards. Happy Sunday!  :o)

Field Trip: California Academy of Sciences

FINALLY!  February 19th, Tony, Megan and I went to the California Academy of Sciences.

I can only take credit for a few of these pictures because once Tony got a hold of my camera I didn't see it again until after we left!  Such a fun day!  Can you tell?

Its hard to say what my favorite exhibit was at the California Academy of Sciences.  Penguins are my favorite animal so seeing the feeding was pretty fun.  The oldest couple had been together for 15 years. You could tell which penguin was with who by the color of their arm band.  As we sat in the colored square on the carpet surrounded by anxious children about to pee their pants with excitement, we were debating on which penguins we would take home with us.

It had already been determined that we would hide them in Megan's purse and she would keep them at her house.  Tony wanted one of the molting penguins...well, since we couldn't agree on which ones to take home with us we didn't go through with the plan after all.  However, we knew our plan would have worked if we wanted it to!

The dioramas were pretty cool too.  Megan had pointed out that the lighting on the lions had made them look like they were watching tv.  Pretty hilarious!  Check it out!

Many, many, many beautiful fish, reptiles and crustaceans!  The underwater tunnel was was probably one of the places I could sit for hours...actually, I think we did sit there for a good 15-20 minutes!  So relaxing.

This picture just makes me smile...Or maybe it was just something Tony had said.  :o)

Spiraling up the dome was pretty fun as well.  Inside is a living rain forest with the temperature warm and humid. It was quite beautiful and as you spiraled up you saw more and more free flying birds and butterflies.

Nice escape from the everyday.

M.I.S.S.

Meet DJ ODDz!

I talked a little bit about Ari in an earlier post about LIFE/STYLE so now here is a post just for her!

I met Ari a month or so after I did the first shoot for Tony and Raul.  I had heard her name several times and was told that I should come by one of the nights she DJ'd to meet her.

LOVE this lady!  I arrived at Beauty Bar and saw this beautiful woman, well put together, dressed in black, red lipstick, hair up tight.  She had just begun her set and people were going crazy on the dance floor!  I wish I could remember the song she was playing but when I think about the day I met Ari that is the image that comes to mind.

DJ, salsa dancing, greyhound favorite, classy, interesting, photography, happy smile, attitude when needed, supportive...I am happy to know her.

Please check out her interview here at: M.I.S.S.   They used one of my pictures for the article (the first picture).  You can also find her and the rest of the L/S crew here: http://lifestyletimes.blogspot.com/

Things are...well, great!

Its been a great week filled with great food and great company!  New hair, new clothes! New experiences and adventures!  Work featured in new places and new projects to start while finishing up some old ones. Be prepared to see some new work on my website.

In the mean time check out SFist where one of my images was used for Tony Sison's interview about what he does and how he got started doing LIFE/STYLE which was also voted by SF Weekly and Bay Guardian 2009 Best DJs.

SFist Interviews: In the Life and Style of DJ Ts

Tony Sison, Raul Sanchez, and Ari Rosas...where do I even begin?!?!

I met Tony randomly end of May last year.  I had been unintentionally rude so when I realized it I went to him and apologized.  I knew "I had to have been the rudest person!".  He replied back "No, not the rudest..."

Through them, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people who are doing what they love to do and are happy to share their gift.  Its inspiring to be around them and I feel privileged to call them my friend.

Catching You Up: January, SF Weekly

Last month I had the opportunity to shoot for Local Frequency written by Jasmine Blocker with SF Weekly.  It was the first night for Sketchfest, January 14th at Mezzanine with comedians Neil Hamburger and then Tim and Eric.  You can check out the story here: Last Night: Tim and Eric, Neil Hamburger at Sketchfest

If you haven't seen Neil Hamburger (really Andy Kaufman)...crazy!  Hes known for loudly clearing his throat, spitting into his drink and randomly yelling before a joke.  When it actually came to his jokes...eh, well, not exactly my humor.  More like they were so bad they were funny... and then, not so much.  However, listening to the crowds reactions was quite comical in itself!

Tim and Eric on the other hand were more my style!  Corny as all get out!  Loved it!  They performed as a funk rock band called Puss Whip Gang Bang (sorry, if your reading this mom...that really is the name of their band!)  Tie-die, tight pants, bad wig!

Meet Amelia

I could look at those sweet eyes forever.

I cant tell you how happy I get when I have the opportunity to photograph a child  and to top it off, photographing them to produce an image that is my vision.

Meet Amelia!  2 months old and is not shy to tell you that she wants your attention.  The age where she is starting to stay awake for longer intervals, differentiate familiar sounds (especially mommas voice!) and her eyesight developing from two tone brightly colored objects to more detailed shapes, designs and colors!

Its an exciting time because sleep schedule becomes more regular and her little personality starts  to peek through.  Just wait till 3 months!
