What do you do in down time?

Man, I can get some of the most interesting shots during down time.  The talent isn't expecting a camera to be lurking in their peripheral so they are off guard and not paying attention to me.  In this case, Erica was thinking really hard about her lines for her next scene in the children's video Flossman.

Then... she caught me!  And did a fake, over dramatic cry,"You captured my soul! My SOoooUL! Ahhh!"

I have shown these to a few people and it has made them feel really uncomfortable to see a child this upset.  So uncomfortable in fact, that they don't like it because of the way it makes them feel.  Thats pretty amazing to me!

I guess that means I am doing my job as an artist to be able to evoke that kind of emotion from someone by just looking at these photographs... thats pretty empowering.

Thanks for looking!

Flossman!

Here are 2 of the final posters I shot pics for a children's video about fighting cavities!

The video is meant to be fun and educate kids on the importance of brushing and flossing your teeth.  With characters like Flossinator, Waldo Gum, Min T. Fresh and Dr. Decay, kids like Erica (the little girl in the film) will not only be learning but will have fun singing along and busting out the same dance moves from the video.

Yes...it is a learning, singing, dancing AND!  What you would least expect to happen, happens... someone falls in LOVE!

Take a look at the trailer. Its pretty hilarious!  ...I have to say though, Dr. Decay is pretty scary looking.  After seeing what decay looks like I certainly dont want that in my mouth!  Gaaa-ROoooSS!

Flossman Trailer
Another Scene from the video

It was pretty fun to be on set with the Flossman team during their filming.  Here are some out takes from the shoot!

What is Success For You?

I have been thinking about this a lot lately.  What is success and what does it mean to me to be successful?

I am certain it is different for everyone.  Maybe its fame and having your name in lights.  Maybe its being the very best in your field or making a lot of money.... or maybe its just being the best parent you can possibly be for your child... maybe is multiple things.

I am still working that out for myself.  I think, living a comfortable lifestyle, having the opportunity to travel, eat good food and drink good coffee (LOVE coffee!) accompanied by loved ones and having that lifestyle supported by my photography would equal success for me.  Everything else is bonus.

What is success for you?

Rockin in the Tweet Tops!

What a roller coaster!

This photography game is serious business.  I dont think I will ever get "use" to the ups and downs of this field but one thing is for certain, every time I have the tiniest inkling that this may not be for me something SMACKS me in the face and says, "Danielle... patience my dear!"

One of my most recent "smacks" was being invited to Wonderful Machine.   Of all places, they found me on Twitter!   I guess its not that hard to believe.  I have my Facebook linked to my Twitter and LinkedIn accounts so whatever I post on one site goes to all 3.

I guess it just goes to show, you never know where Reps, AD's, CD's and AB's are looking to find talent.  Everyone has their own interest.  You just have to pick your favorite spots to be online and be diligent in putting yourself out there.

Anyone else have an online success story?

Alrighty!  Lets see what the next couple of weeks bring!

Headshot pic...of ME?!?!?!

photos by Joe Budd

I am always a little uncomfortable when it comes to being in front of the camera but it had to be done!  I needed a shot to put up on a particular website (TBA) and none of the pics I would normally use would have worked.

It was pretty hilarious how nervous I was to have Joe take my picture.  But of course!  Joe is an amazing photographer and in looking at these so far, I have to say...Im pretty darn cute!  Haha!

Will share with you soon!
